How much RAM can I put in my Dell Inspiron 620?

One thing to consider--only 64 bit windows operating systems can use more than 4 gb of ram. If you have 32 bit OS, adding ram would be a waste of money, especially if you have to remove the 4gb to replace with 8gb. If you are just a regular user--web browsing, email, music listening etc.-- 4 GB is enough ram. If you do photo and video editing, heavy business use, gaming or more demanding tasks, the upgrade might be worthwhile. Make sure you get the same type ram that is in the computer now. www.crucial.com is a good place to check for compatible ram.

I have a 64 Bit OS, and I know all about RAM, where to get it, what its for etc, and I'm a PC gamer so I need more than 4GB of RAM, I was simply just checking that my computer would be okay with 8GB of RAM.

I have a couple of questions here.

The RAM I have in my Inspiron 620 desktop is 10600u. So what are the other compatible RAM cards here? like 10660? or 10666? do they work?

Now I have 2x2 GB RAM. Can I go with 2x8GB so that the total RAM will be 16GB. I have i3, windows 7 64. I have install couple of VM workstations they need each 4 GB RAM, that's why I might need 16 GB RAM.

Quad Ranked modules are not an option nor is 16 gigs of ram.

2X of 4gig modules gives you max 8 gigs.
