Insirion 3000 Questions?
Hey peoples :) I was curious. Since Im gonna be getting a new Desktop PC, and was looking at the Insirion 300, I was wondering... Would a GeForce GTX 650 GPU work in it?
Tis a part from my old desktop, and the Insirion doesnt come with a good GPU, and then one I have is good....
Also, How many GB of ram does the motherboard support?
And how many HDs can be inside it? I have an old 500 GB and a 1TB HD that isnt a year old yet.

The Inspiron 3000 Series Mini Tower, supports 2 x 3.5" hard drives and 2 x 5.25" optical drives and up to 16gb of DDR3 memory.
The default power supply is a 300w unit.
The motherboard supports up to four SATA internal drives.

Regards to the GeForce GTX 650 video card, while the card will fit the Mini Tower chassis, you will probably need to replace the power supply, this card requires a 6-pin Supplementary Power Connector, that the default 300w PSU does not have.

Then Kumar has probably given you the wrong information, did he mention the desktop had a 300w power supply?
Dell's XPS 8700 desktops have power supplies with the supplementary power connectors, but of cause they cost more.

Ya, major oops on his part. Ill go cancel the order since the card requires 400Ws, but the Inspirion power is only 300W..
Unless it is possible to use the ol Power supply from my old Alienware R2 Desktop, which I think is 825W?

That's a big 'Oops'.
To find the info, on video cards, I've found it best to check the manufacturer's website for the card's specifications.

Would the Alienware R2's 525W power supply work in the Inspiron 3847?
OR would i have to buy a different kind?
If so, what kind of motehrboard does the Inspiron 3847 have? Can it use up to 500w?

Awesome, and would the Motherboard support 500W?
I heard that the GTX 650 only uses 64w, is a Power supply REALLY needed though?

Yes, the 500w EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Power Supply, should work fine.
