Inspiron 660, sound issue

Hello everybody!

I have an Inspiron 660 Intel core i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00 Ghz--8GB RAM, x64 with Win 8.1 and IE11. I have no sound and am trying to run Dell Diagnostics but keep getting the same error message:"There was a problem with your internet connection. Please try running the diagnostic again."

You must have the 660 connected to your network via the onboard RJ45 jack. Was the sound ever working? The 660 sold with the onboard Conexant SmartAudio HD audio. Check the Device Manager- Sound, video and game controllers. Is it listed there? Be sure to have the speaker or headphones plugged into the green audio jack on the rear of the 660.
