Inspiron I530 Vista Factory Restore will not boot without a Vista DVD Repair Procedure
After performing an Vista Factory Restore on my Dell Inspiron 530s, my Computer continues to re-boot and will not boot to Windows. To correct the problem, I have to boot from my Vista Installation DVD and perform a Windows repair.
During the repair process I received the following repair details:
The following startup options will be deleted:
Name: Widows Vista
Identifier: {7FDD6A65-70BE-11DB-BA26-A0B016378059}
Windows Device: Partition=Not found
The following startup options will be added:
Name: Windows Vista Home Premium (recovered)
Path: Windows
Windows Device=C: (9294951MB)
Name: Windows Code Name “Longhorn” Pre-installation Environment (recovered)
Path: Windows
Windows Device: Partition=D: (10236MB)
A copy of the current boot configuration data will be saved as: C:\Boot\BCD.Backup.001
My questions are:
1. Is this normal for a Factory Restore?
2. If not, I’m I missing some files in my RECOVERY Drive (D:)?
3. If I’m missing some files, which files are missing?
My hard drive is the original drive that came with the computer.
I haven’t changed anything in my RECOVERY Drive.
I’m not using DataSafe Local Backup to perform the Factory Restore.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Oldpcman,
Since you performed the repair, does the system boot properly?

I'm sorry for not responding earlier. I had a death in the family and had to change my priorities.
The system does boot properly and works fine after the system repair.
I'm just wondering why I had to perform a repair after a Factory Restore. It seems to me a Factory Restore should not have to be repaired.
Is this normal or am I missing some files on my RECOVERY drive?
Thanks

The repair fixed issues with corruption or malware or some other issue. There are also 2 kinds of recovery. Its more likely that a repair would need to be done if you chose the option that does not erase and re format the drive losing data files. System restore from microsoft is not the F8 factory recovery. The CLSID indicates being forced off or crashing during hibernation.
