Inspiron One 2320 card reader issue

I have an Inspiron One 2320 that I upgraded to Windows 8. Wish I hadn't done that for many reasons. My frustration right now is that the card reader, which always worked fine with MS 7, now sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes it works with my camera memory card, but usually it doesn't. It was working with my CPAP card but today I couldn't get it to read. Do I just have to buy an external card reader, or is there a fix for this? While I'm at it, how can I get rid of 8 and go back to 7? Everything seemed to work much better with 7; now it really lags.
