Keyboard help...

Hello All,

I just bought a new PC and I am hooking my old one up on the other side of the house.

I have everything hooked up and all is great expect the keyboard on my old pc won't work.

The lights flash when I plug it in, but nothing after that. The mouse works fine. I've tried some troubleshooting, but thought this forum might be a faster solution since the keyboard isn't even recognized my the computer.

The old computer is a Dimension 4700..running Windows XP Home...

Thanks in advance

Flu

PS/2 or USB?

Did you try swapping the keyboard to make sure it works on another machine?

Did you try another keyboard on the 4700?

Does the keyboard work in the BIOS setup?

Peter,

Thanks for the quick response.

It is PS/2....and the only other keyboard I have is wireless.

I just tried the keyboard in the BIOS setup and it worked... What does this mean?

Thanks

Flu

Peter,

After it worked in the BIOS setup, I went ahead and ran XP....The keyboard worked fine....

Thanks for your help....

Glad you got it working.  Sometimes you just have to "jiggle" things a bit, like the old TV's.
