Need more memory

Have a Dimension 4550.  I believe the memory is only 257 or such.  I feel with the pictures I have, etc. I need more memory.  In checking with Dell, they suggest a 1GB Module.  It lists it as for a Dimension 4550 (400Mhz Front Side Bus), or (400Mhz FSB) or (533 MHz Side Bus).  Which one of these should I order?  Is one enough?  Is 1 GB the right size?  Thanks.  Carolyn

Link above is from www.crucial.com.  A very good memory vendor and is for the 4550 system you have..  You have two slots and can be occupied with 2x512 mb sticks for a total of 1 gb

your system only has maximum memory of 1 GB. two 512MB will do, you can do the math. :)

Maximum specs for memory

DDR 333 (non-ECC) only on computers with 533-MHz system clock speed

DDR 266 (non-ECC) on computers with either 400- or 533-MHz system clock speed

you can go to support.dell.com ang enter your service tag to check your sys configs. =)
