2.6 is all you are going to get out of a Q6600 or E6600 with the Dell motherboard.

Your 3D mark score is good.  Mine is about the same.

2.6ghz is NOT all that you can get.

You can pusk much more than that with a q6600.

You can EASILY get 3.0ghz and with a little work 3.2

 I just helped someone OC there XPS630 with a q6600 to 3.3Ghz

no your score is not bad for a stock 720, but look st my score in my sig with my XPS420.

If you need some help OCing please let me know.

I've gotten it up to about 2.8-3.0 ghz with increasing the ram voltage. Since the stock ram (not the optional corsair) we have isn't too good, if you want to get up that high and keep it stable, get yourself a 2gb set from OCZ, Crucial or Corsair.

The bios in a 630 is user tunable friendly..not like the bios in a  7XX Dell FlagShip system   :smileysad:

Has everyone failed to note my XPS420, the least overclockable of the bunch is OC to 3.2Ghz. My Bios is also locked, and I can not even use nTune to OC.

He can do the chip mod to bring his processor to 3.0Ghz and CpuCool(ntune is junk for cpu overclocking, only use it for GPU) to bring it to 3.2Ghz

Have recently upgraded the power supply and running SLI 8800 GTX 768mb's but everything else is stock, so any suggestion would be greatly received.

I have found that, if you move up incrementally you will not do any damage to your machine. These intel processors are pretty tough as long as they have a nice large heatsink and fan like ours. Since there's really only one way to overclock the processors, open up nTune, click on the performance tab and adjust the FSB tab to you liking. I believe the highest it will go while remaining stable is around 333mhz. I've had success wit it a little lower than that, but once again, a lot of this has to do with how good the ram is at handling the higher speed.

If you have EPP ram make sure that you disable the EPP in the bios. EPP already OC the ram and since the memory bus and and the FSB are linked together once you start increasing the FSB  the memory will start to increase to...

You may end up having to bump up the memory voltage a bit proably around 2-2.1V.

IMHO it's pointless to Ntune oc with the 720 as it doesnt stick.. you have to create a profile then load that after every reboot..not productive to me that's why i just left mine alone and at stock.

Your going to need to increase you CPU voltage if you want any decent OC.

If your going to OC to only about 2.7Ghz its pointless to do so. Your not going to notice any differece.

If you want to OC your pc and cant alter the bios then the only way to get a worth while OC is to mod the processor(it is very easy and reversible).

If you can get it to 3Ghz then youll notice a difference, but i doubt it will be 100% stable with out increasing cpu voltage.
