OCed CPU now comp wont boot
Hello I have just tried to OC the Q6600 on my XPS 630 and my computer crashed. After that when I turn it on, the lights work and the fan starts up but nothing appears on my screen. No BIOS, no anything. Inserting the Windows XP reinstallation CD did nothing. Im a little freaked and can someone help me please?

I took the ram out and put it back in. I am still not able to access BIOS but I did see the DELL loading screen although it did not load at all nor was I able to access BIOS from there. Any ideas?
Also I was not able to duplicate these results again. I am back to my computer starting up, fans whirring and nothign appearing on screen.

How did you OC it (BIOS, pin-mod, etc...) and what did you OC it to?
You might just need to reset the BIOS to defaults (usually a button or jumper on MB to reset BIOS defaults).

Firekil,
Find jumper that resets bios. Resetting that jumper is the best way to get you back me thinks.
If you dont have your manual, you can find it in the Dell support forum.

Wonder how long this will last
gdwrch,
I would have expected you to take the opposite view knowing your passion for experimentation, which in your case is probalbly done carefully and with expert knowledge of how far to push. Yet, I think that when one is doing it to a $1200 computer and a full warranty, then what the heck.
I believe that we will see many posts like this.

yes, I love to experiment, but do the research FIRST....learn the basics, before you totally foul up a beautiful machine.
You hit the nail right on the head with the 1300 dollar machine. They should have released thiss on the flagship first. people that pay 5 or 6k are less apt to jump in blindly and ruin their machine....
my 2 cents anyway
