OptiPlex 755 Mini Tower Graphics Card Question

Hello Fellow Dellers,

So I have been looking into getting a Graphics card for my Dell OptiPlex 755 Mini Tower. I just bought it on eBay very recently. The onboard graphics don't suit me at all. My Research shows that this is the best choice for my PC.

The problem is I cannot find it available anywhere online. So my issue now is since I can't buy this thing anywhere at current. Can I install my NVIDIA Geforce 6200 512MB PCI Low Profile Graphics Card into this PC? It has 2 PCI slots available. I bought the Geforce 6200 for my old Dell Dim 3000 and it's no longer being used. I would like to use it on this PC if possible.

Here are My PC Specs.

The sapphire card that is low profile fits in all cases except USFF.

If you have a Mini Tower(MT) then the Asus model is better for your wallet

Okay, thanks for the great information. I take it then my NVIDIA Geforce 6200 512MB DDR2 128-bit PCI Low Profile Graphics Card won't work at all then?

Depends on the PCI version of the card.

If it does not have 2 keyways in the card slot fingers its 5V PCI 2.0 and will not work in any pentium 4 based dell.

PCI 2.2 or 2.3 Universal Cards work fine.

Well, my NVIDIA Geforce 6200 512MB DDR2 128-bit PCI Low Profile Graphics Card fits in my Dell Dimesnion 3000 and that PC is PCI only. No clue if it would work in my Dell Optiplex 755. Hence me asking.

Fitting is not the issue. 2 keyways or not IS an issue.

The 755 comes with PCI 2.3 and PCI-E X16 slot.

Going into the slot does not mean it works.

If its a UNIVERSAL PCI card it will work.

If it has 1 keyway its 5v only and will not EVER work.

5v cards will FIT into PCI 2.3 slots but they wont work and they will prevent the machine from booting or post.

Okay. How may I determine this? Any advice? Thanks for your patience BTW. I appreciate it.

I don't think its performance would be much better than the onboard graphics, if at all. Even the low-end 5450 will blow away the ancient 6200, and good deals can be had on them, like a Powercolor for $10 after $20 mail-in rebate.

Wow, that's all I really need. Something cheap that will support windows 7 & direct x 11 and won't force me to upgrade my power supply. It's out of stock on new egg though. I guess I will just have to try to install the 6200 and find out the hard way then.

I don't like sapphire's support.  That card with wrap around heat sink does not fit in the DT or SFF model DELL whereas the ASUS Silent cards fit in all models with X16 video slot. Meaning it doesnt fit USFF because USFF has Zero Slots. These cards fit and work in every dell I have ever tried.

They fit into every Dell Except USFF.

Regulatory Model (Mini-Tower): DCSM
Regulatory Model (Desktop): DCNE
Regulatory Model (Small Form Factor): DCCY
Regulatory Model (Ultra Small Form Factor): DCTR

Most of those reviews are whining, especially the ones about rebates or lack of support for two analog connections.

I have bought several Sapphire 6450s, with very good results. Only one died, and that was in a computer that had previously ruined another graphics card. Meanwhile, the 6450 has worked splendidly in every Dell desktop or tower I have tried it in, including an OptiPlex 320 that wouldn't boot with a 4650 card.

Thank you for your help guys. @SpeedStep, Thanks for the link to that graphics card. I bought it and installed it in my OptiPlex Yesterday. It's perfect for what I need.

So far so good. Again thanks :) No complaints here.

I have never had any issues with that specific series of card on ANY dell ANY size. The USFF is not working with any card because it does not have ANY slots. It works with XP VISTA 7 8 10 windows.  The only mod you have to do is put the low profile bracket on if you do not have a Mini Tower.
