Optiplex 7010 i7 3770 64-bit -- RAM Upgrade causes 2-3 amber light error

Hello.

2 - 8gb sticks DDR-3 1600 CL11 240-pin

When installed, I get the 2-3 blinking amber light.

I swapped them from the 1-3 slot to 2-4 and so on. . .

The Dell Technical Guide states that this computer can run up to 32gb [8gb per slot] in a 64-bit configuration.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Thank you very much.

Hello.

I wanted to update this post.

My Crucial Memory I bought was shipped to me.

It must have been "zapped" somewhere along the way.

I was confused because this was the first time I had ran into a problem with RAM that I have had shipped.

Thank you for the help.

What brand ram? Crucial ram works best on dell computers and some other brands with the same specs don't work. Check their site. The Optiplex 7010 has 4 form factors. Mention which one you have--desktop, mini, small form, ultra small in the body of your post since the tags don't show up when we answer.

Hello.

Sorry about the lack of information:

7010 MT - Delivered in August; so it's a recent build.

I think the BIOS is A16. [I'm at work right now, so I can't check]

___________

Crucial RAM.

Part Number: CT2KIT102464BA160B

The part number passes the Crucial Compatibility Checker.

Thank you very much.
