Optiplex PCI-E Configuration - Will this work...
I have the following:
- AverMedia NV6240 PCI-E x4 DVR Capture Card
- PNY Quadro NVS 295 PCI-E 1x Graphics Card
I also have a Dell Optiplex 960 that features PCI-E x16 and x1 slots.
If I plug the PCI-E x4 card into the x16 slot and the PCI-E x1 card into the x1 slot, will this work? I need to find out how the system will react to a video capture card plugged in to the x16 slot and a display adapter in the x1 slot.
Alternatively, if I plugged in a PCI graphics card and had the video capture card in the PCI-E x16 slot, would this work?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Read083,
This is very unlikely to work. Most BIOSes will assume that any card in the PCI-E X16 slot is the primary video card without doing any querying. It will make no difference whether the video card is in a PCI or PCI-E X1 slot.
