Orientation of a Dell Vostro 270 SFF

Hi,

Is it permissible to operate a Dell Vostro 270 SFF on its side rather than upright? I'm checking because on other machines which you can 'lie down' rather than 'stand up', there are usually some additional small rubber feet on the side of the unit to facilitate this but this machine doesn't have any.

Regards Paul.

Hi Paul,

I appreciate your concern. Vostro 270s has air vents at the rear of the system tower and using it sideways will not cause any problems related to overheating nor it voids the warranty.

Please feel free to get in touch in case you have any further questions.

Thanks for the info. I thought it should be OK but I didn't want to cause issues with the machine such as overheating or similar problems nor did I want to invalidate the warranty, etc.

Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul,

Vostro 270s is designed to use upright however there should not be any problem in using it sideways. Only thing you need to make sure is that optical drive should be in upward direction so that you can insert the CD/DVD in appropriate way.

Please reply for further clarification.
