Clockgen 1.0.5.3 is still available for download here.

You need to have the proper PLL chip  ( SLG505YC6D seems to be the only one that works )

No, you can't overclock your CPU.

Some have been able to overclock a Q6600 from 2.4GHz to 2.8GHz using a utility called ClockGen. However, the developers of this utility no longer make it available.

Will this work for a XPS 420 with the Q6600 2.4? What about the Intel overclocking program? Thanks

i would be very careful trying to OC with stock cooling. Im not sure how good the airflow is in a 410 but you may have a big problem trying to keep the chip cool enough to go past stock speed.

another thing you could try is pin modding. you can google it to see how its done. i have read it works pretty well on the q6600.

all you can do is try it out and see. your system should shut down if it gets to hot. Im not sure how well useing software to OC works. I was going to try Ntune, then heard all the horror stories from people who used it.

Stock cooling is the only option, and since the same stock cooler is used by the people who manage to overclock their 2.4g Q6600 to 2.8g it's probably a given that it will be fine for a dual core E6300 (1.86g) taken to 2.2.

I applied the tape bsel mod to my Q6600 in my 420.  My machine runs perfectly at 3 GHz per core.

Check this thread: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=546760

It really is as simple as adding a single piece of tape to your processor: http://www.pbase.com/sjmarcy/image/92337793/original.jpg
