Power Supply Unit replacement for XPS 9100 desktop
Hi, My computer, XPS 9100 desktop circa 2011, randomly shuts off and restarts usually when on Internet. Perhaps faulty PSU. Was wondering a brand, model, wattage size to use as a replacement that won't fry my components and keep my machine humming.
Thanks,

Stop looking at a single Spec of Watts.
Corsair TX650 is fine because the 3.3v /5v Rail Max is 150W
Corsair HX650 is not fine because 3.3v/5v rail Max is 100W
Corsair AX760 is not fine because 3.3v/5v Rail max is 125W
3 AMPS 5VSB is Minimum. Dell Specs 4.0
150W on the 3.3v/5v Rails Minimum.
If you use 648W on the 12v rails that leaves 2 WATTS for EVERYTHING else.
The other reason the CS750M is Recommended is physical Dimensions.
The CORSAIR CX Series is NOT recommended because the 3.3v/5v combined in this series is 130W OR LESS.
You can always have more power on a rail but not LESS THAN BARE MINIMUM.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. What do you think of
Corsair CS Series 650 Watt ATX Modular and Efficient Power Supply CS650M from Amazon?
Is the 650 as good? It had 122 reviews and most of them great reviews and the 750 from Newegg didn't seem to have as good reviews. 29 reviews and only 3 stars (eggs). I'm leaning towards the 650 unless you think that's not enough power. I'm not a gamer but do edit videos and photos.
Thanks again!!

I'm also in the market for a replacement PSU. Is 750W the recommended choice for the 9100? (There are four choices for this unit.)

Power supplies are NOT single rating WATTS.
Dell Needs 150W on the 3.3v/5v Rails, 15 to 20W on the 5VSB Rail.
Combined max on the 650M is 130W
Same Issue with HX750 vs HX650.
Not Enough Power on the other Rails.
Thats why the CS750M is Minimum Recommended.

So does this mean that the 750 is required? (I think you're saying that the 650 isn't powerful enough.)

Sorry--I misunderstood.
So then the one for which you provided a link is OK?
Thanks.
