Precision T7400 - max drive size in Windows 7 (system circa 2010)
Hi,
What is the limit on the size of an internal hard drive that can be installed on this system?
I have just installed a WD 4TB internal drive and all that windows reports is 2TB.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Julian

2TB is the Limit for non UEFI GPT boot drives. Same is true for INTEL RST Raid Volumes 2TB max. Your bios is compatible with MSDOS and WIN9X MBR and therefore the Max is 2TB forever.
Non booting drives can be USB or Firewire or on a controller with bios extension to "see" the whole drive.
64 bit os is also required for drives over 2TB
AHCI and INTEL RST 10.1.1008 or higher is required for Advanced Format 512e NON BOOTING Storage drives larger than 2TB
The problem is that newer versions of RST do not work on Ancient Vaccuum tube chipsets.
