Problems updating Software
My sister is having big time problems with her new Dell. It will not updat anything....Windows Update nor McAffey Anti-Virus or I soppose any update....those are the two we cannot update. She got a message one time that mentioned Active X and Internet Explorer problem. Any ideas? The Indians have been no help. What on earth could be causing this?

What error message does she receive when she attempts to download from the Windows Update site?

There is no error message when we go to Windows Update........ it gives that beginning message that a scan will begin.....but it never does. It just sits there.
On the McAffey update it says something about Internet Explorer not allowing and Active X. Not sure the exact message.....I am not at her computer.

Hi,
Just a thought here. Are her firewall privacy controls or her I.E. security controls set to block Active X? It might be a good idea to check out all the security and privacy permissions on both those programs.
