Programming Function Keys on Keyboard - XPS8500

I have  the wired keyboard that came with my Dell XPS8500 desktop and I would like to know if I can program the function keys on the keyboard and would appreciate your help.

Hi Neil154,

Yes, you can change the behavior of the keys in Windows by installing keyboard layout changing software.

The links provided below shows how to install the software and change the mapping of keys:

Thanks for the response but it looks like Smartkeys will not do what I want.  I want to be able program a function to type a few words into where ever the cursor is.  It looks like to me that SmartKeys will only repregram a key to perform the function of another key.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks for your suggestion but I just found a program "AutoHotKey" which seems to do everything I need plus more
