Radeon RX 480

I'm looking to put an RX 480 in my XPS 8300. I'm getting a new PSU so that's not an issue. My only concern is the compatibility of the card with the motherboard. Does anyone happen to know if it's supported?

A few XPS 8300 users are reporting that the RX 480 does not work on their systems.  Apparently, it fails POST (power-on self test).  This may be due to a BIOS incompatibility.  See, e.g.:

On the other hand, it appears that the GTX 10xx family of graphics cards may be compatible with the XPS 8300 BIOS.  See, e.g.:

Generally speaking, the GTX 1060 is slightly higher in cost and performance than the RX 480, while drawing somewhat less power.
