Re: Inspiron 530s Failing Hard Drive / Replace & Upgrade to Windows 7?

I finally installed two new 1TB 7200.12 Baracuda drives (ref ST31000528AS) as they were great value at £49 ($76) each from ebuyer in the UK. 

I also fitted a replacement Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5570 low profile graphics card as the Dell supplied ATI Radeon 1300 pro card was always a sluggish performer. The Windows experience graphics score was 4.3 on Vista and is now 6.8 on Windows 7.  Not bad for a £36.00 ($56) spend!

The overall Windows experience score is held back at 5.9 by the disk transfer rate of the replacement Baracuda drives but overall the system has improved massively.

No issues at all with the move over to Windows 7  :emotion-5:. The PC has worked flawlessly for three weeks albeit with a minimal set of software - basically Office 2007 and web applications.  Have since purchased additional desktops with Windows & installed.
