Restoring My Computer

I am using Acronis backup software and installed the option to push F11 during boot to bring up an embedded version of it in case I can't get to windows and want to restore my computer.  Now I have decided it's time to reinstall the operating system but when I push the F12 to restore it no longer functions.  After windows load I can go to the recovery drive and find the icon that says Recovery and then PCRestore.  Has anyone clicked on this to see if it would work the same as if I had the F12 option yet?

After posting this I was reading some of the other posts and found out Dell is giving away the 64bit version of Windows for just a support call.  I called and a disk is on its way.  So this may all be moot.  But thanks for the quick help from both of you.

Have you tried using F8 to do a factory restore?

Acronis Startup Recovery Manager overrides the Master Boot Record (MBR) of the hard drive with its own code  While this provides you with the option to load Acronis True Image from Secure Zone during computer startup, it renders many proprietary hidden boot recovery partitions (such as Dell's) inaccessible.

Your options are to eitehr to a fresh reinstall of Windows using your Dell OEM OS disk or to recover and restore whatever Acronis has stored.

You can also disable the Acronis Recover manager (from the program itself, or in the OS), and it should replace the Dell version, as it backs-up the MBR on installation. Just for information later on.
