SAMSUNG HDMI HANDSHAKE
Hi there. I have got a handshake problem between my Inspiron 570 and my Samsung le 19r8. I don't understand it. Have heard that there are different hdmi versions that might be cause for a compatability problem. If anyone knows a stable fix for this problem I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Hi iddo,
Please do not write in caps. Thanks.
By handshake, do you mean that your computer does not detect that it's connected to a monitor via the HDMI port? Or do you mean that it's just not working when you connect the HDMI cable.

i mean that the picture can be seen up until the windows start page appears then i get the message from my tv that the mode is not supported. i know there is adifference between the hdmi ports my tv has the older version than my pc, i just can't seem to make them compatible even though it should be easy to do. i think i might have to reduce the screen resolution if i want to connect by hdmi or just keep on useing vga.

That model is UK not USA ATSC. This is not Dell Hardware.
Samsung LE19R86
- Click here to visit the Samsung forum
That specific model TV may not be USA HDCP compliant.
It has similar "Issues" with XBOX
"Mode not supported" on LE19R86BDX with XBox HDMI cable
Also will not work with other vendors laptop.
I'm having problems connecting my asus ul30 to my samsung LE19R86BDX tv via hdmi.
The TV User Guide lists the available resolutions as
800x600
1024x768
1440x900
Set the external monitor resolutions to one of these.
