SD Card Reader
I'm using dell XPS 8500 Win 8.1. All of a sudden my built in SD Card (15 in 1) reader stopped working. When I insert a card the little light comes on and I see the drive in Windows Explore. But when I click on the drive it asks me to insert a drive. It does not read files on the card. The card I used works on other PC's. I uninstalled the driver and restarted the PC. It reinstalled the driver but still no good. The driver is old ( 2006) but I can't find a newer one one. Device Mgr calls the drive generic SD/MMC. The Compact card reader works fine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ricrut,
I’d suggest that you update BIOS and chipset driver on your computer to check for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS from BIOS section and chipset from chipset section onto the system and install it.

Also, please perform the Windows update on the system.
