Sound driver updates for optiplex gx620 + 330??
Does anyone know where i can find some updated sound drivers for an optiplex gx620 and 330 system?? they both use soundMax/ADI sound chips but for some reason dell never keep upto date with their audio drivers on the website! and im finding it difficult locating newer ones anywhere else!
On the dell website they have audio drivers for the gx620 dated 2005! and drivers for the optiplex 330 (their current system) dated last year 2007.
Newer drivers for the optiplex gx620 are more important to me as i have always found the sound quite buggy!
The optiplex 330 drivers seem ok for now, but will they be updated in the future?
P.s the drivers are needed for windows xp pro sp3.

"i have always found the sound quite buggy!" this cannot be answered. No vendor constantly updates If ever hardware Codecs. The company that made the AC97 codec has changed hands several times. Its now conexant.

The sound Driver will not work or install properly without the CHIPSET Driver installed First.

Hi, All, new to this forum. i installed R97809, but i am still getting the ? on the multimedia device. I tried to download the R145551.exe file, but was unable to.
One more question, does the drivers need to be in a particular folder? at the moment they are in C:\DELL\
That is the folder that i was asked to create. Does that seem correct.

DirectX June 2010 is also Highly Recommended.
Download DirectX Redist (June 2010) from Official Microsoft ...
Download file, Extract to a folder, RUN DXSETUP.EXE as Administrator.
The Analog Devices AD198X codec does have WHQL drivers from the Microsoft Catalog.
