Studio Desktop 540, WIN7 64 bit Radeon 4350, no DVI Output
I recently updated the ATI video driver on my Studio Desktop 540 running Windows 7 64 bit using the Update Video Card Drivers in Steam. Big mistake... after I installed the new driver, I lost DVI output and had to pull an old VGA cable and hook it up to my monitor. I uninstalled ATI Catylist and the video driver and installed the Dell version of the Radeon Video driver. I'm still only getting output on the VGA side. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get video output on the DVI side?

Is there any chance that you changed the input settings on your monitors?
On the Dell S2209W that I'm using right now, there are three options: Auto, VGA and DVI. If it is set for VGA, the DVI input won't work.
If that is set correctly, then there is a hardware problem with the card, monitor or cable. You will have to do some swapping to identify which.

That's what I thought too but I can't find an option to change the setting from VGA to DVI in the Windows 7 control panel. There's an option to auto detect a monitor but it's not detecting the monitor on the DVI port.

From my understanding, the monitor should automatically choose the connection when it sees a signal. No signal is coming out of the DVI side of the video card. That's why I think there is some kind of driver/software issue.

There is no Windows setting for the monitor input. It is on the monitor itself. Usually there is some kind of on screen menu that you bring up with a button.

If your monitor is like mine, it will only choose the input automatically if it set that way on the onscreen menu. If it is set to VGA, it will only use this input.
The reason that this setting exists is to allow users to connect two computers to the same monitor and choose which desktop to display with the onsceen menu. I use this feature all the time to switch between my deskop and my laptop.

I tried the suggestion to switch between VGA and DVI on the monitor... still no output from the DVI port.
