U2518D HDMI problems

Hey All,

First off some relevant specs:

W10 64bit N
1x MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G (3x displayport 1x HDMI 1.4a)
1x MSI GT   1030 2GH LP OC (1x displayport 1x HDMI 2.2)
5x U2518D
Latest nvidia drivers

I recently bought 5 U2518D screens. I want to connect these all to my pc. I planned on connecting 4 to the available displayports and one to the HDMI of the GT1030. So far all the monitors on the displayports function. However, none of the 5 monitors function when I connect them with HDMI. The HDMI screen seems to turn on and off again (every 30 or so seconds) and windows does recognize it. What I have tried so far:

- Connect a 4k display to the HDMI, works fine
- Tried a multitude of HDMI cables, 100% sure they are high speed (18Gbit)
- Tried a (high speed) HDMI -> MDisplayport cable with the displayport side in the screen
- Tried HDMI on both GPUS
- Tried connecting the screen to HDMI on my laptop (no screen)
- Tried connecting just the HDMI and no other screens
- Install the u2518d support drivers

As none of these steps seem to work I'm kind of clueless. Anyone have any idea? Something I'm missing here?

Also an interesting side note, none of the screens were supplied with a HDMI cable (I bought it in NL-EU), while the manual states this should be included. Makes me wonder.

Per the U2518D/U2518DX/U2518DR User's Guide page 6,
- the U2518DX/U2518DR ship with an HDMI to HDMI cable
- the U2518D ship with a DP to DP cable

* Turn the computer and all five U2518D off
* Disconnect every video cable from the video cards and all U2518D
* Connect one U2518D to the MSI GTX 980 =
MSI GTX 980 HDMI out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2518D HDMI in port
* Turn the computer on
* Turn the U2518D on
* Press the U2518D Input Source button, choose HDMI
* If the U2518D doesn't show the windows desktop, again press the U2518D Input Source button, select HDMI and hold down the button for 8 seconds. A choice should appear for HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 1.4. Select HDMI 1.4. What happens?

For the MSI GT 1030, you would choose HDMI 2.0.

Video card HDMI out --> HDMI to DP cable --> Monitor DP or mDP will not work.

HDMI cannot upconvert to a monitor Monitor DP or mDP unless you add an active converter into the mix.

What you bought was a DP to HDMI down conversion cable.
Video card DP out --> DP to HDMI cable --> Monitor HDMI in port

You should test all five using this setup and cable =
Video card DP out --> DP to HDMI cable --> Monitor HDMI in port
