unfortunately I do not have the driver cd.

i seem to be unable to locate a FTP download for this mentioned driver.

anyone know where i can get it?

Try the chipset drivers which can be found at:

that didnt fix the problem...............

from what i can gather MS is aware of this issue but don't have any info that i can locate if the SP1 doesnt work what do you do

Normally when one reinstalls Windows the chipset drivers should be the first drivers installed - before any other drivers are installed. 

Can you provide a reference to a Microsoft Article that says that they are aware of the problem?

There was a recent update posted on the Microsoft Windows XP download site that fixed USB problems in certain machines or circumstances.  I don't remember what the SP number of the update is.  But, I looked at the drivers on my PC and the drivers are SP2 and then some numbers.

for reference as the information out there is not to great

I downloaded the driver from ms as mention above in previous post

then go to control panel, system ,hardware

right click the icon and locate new driver it will find the driver you just downloaded automatically

what i dont understand is this should automatically be installed after downloading it from MS

oh well problem fixed thank god as i had this on 3 machines i am currently working on :)
