Dell XPS 625 comes with diagnostic indicators. If the computer is not starting up you can refer to the diagnostic indicators.

First I’d like to know The Dell XPS 625 power button light located on the front of the computer illuminates and blinks or remains solid.

Second I’d like to know if you are getting any beep codes. The Dell XPS 625 system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. Please let me know how many beeps you get.

The system is working fine, there seems to be an issue with the monitor. I would like you to disconnect the cable from the CPU and check if the monitor performs the self-test.

Also, I would like you to select the correct input source on the monitor.

need help with my dell xps 625. i just recently moved to another place and when i'm setting up my desktop, i can't figure out how to appear the CPU into my samsung monitor screen. it cannot detect the CPU (analog & digital) and i tried to use either one but to no avail. there's nothing's wrong with the unit not until we moved to our new home. can you help mefigure it out how to setup my unit correctly?

thanks for your prompt response. with regards to your queries, 1st,the power button lits and remains solid after you turn on. 2nd, no unusual beeps whatsoever that i heard of except for the fans working.

the monitor is working perfectly fine and just when i started to assemble the unit again to their new home that i encountered this blank screen. either the analog nor the digital connection cannot be detected.

I am working right now at Toms hardware on upgrading XPS 625 here, and I found confirmation for Chris, (well, it is not what I was thinking, it is not retail one, oops) and another one, here Ebay link to XPS 625 motherboard with Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition, (this one could be be retaile according to seller, but I might be wrong) so it makes 2 different confirmations, I think.

If I am right, this is very serious upgrade!!!:emotion-14:

I know this is an old thread but I had to ask a question about your reply. Like the OP I am wanting to upgrade my 625 to a quad core processor and based on your answers I searched the dell website for any AMD Phenom processors and came up empty. I see the OP purchased a retail Phenom II - do we have to purchase Dell's version in order for it to work? If so, where can these be purchased since I cannot find it on the website?
