Upgrading a GX620 SFF Desktop...

So I acquired recently a GX620 small form factor desktop machine.

I want to upgrade this thing to its max potential...but what are its limitations?

1. What is the best CPU that I can insert? Currently it is a Pentium 4 at 2.80 GHz.

2. Could I insert a low-profile video card, such as the GT 730 in it?

3. Is the maximum RAM 4GB? I hear that it is somewhat possible to add up to 8GB with updates of BIOS.

Its not really worth upgrading a GX620 these days. Price wise you are better to buy an OptiPlex 780 second hand....

Whoever you hear from is totally wrong.

You can NEVER get more than 3.50 gigs of ram in a GX620.

Period END.  Does not matter which model. You can NEVER EVER use 8 gigs let alone 4 gigs in a GX620 ANY MODEL ANY SIZE.

You can use 2 gig dimms you CANNOT use 4 gig dimms.

Regardless of the number of slots Bios A11 and the chipset support 2 gig dimms max and 3.5 gigs ram total.

This is a limitation of the chipset.

Maximum potential for the 230W SFF unit is  20W Radeon HD5450.

Maximum CPU with BIOS A11 and copper heatsink is Pentium D 915
