Upgrading refurbished Dell Optiplex 760?
I have bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 760 with 4GB Ram, and a processor Intel 2 duo cpu 3GHz
It freezes up sometimes and really does not work well, what could I do to upgrade this for better speed and less freezing issues?
I bought it to upgrade myself and want to learn. Thanks Chris

You should run Dell F12 preboot diagnostics to see if its a hardware or software issue causing the freezing:

This is an old system so you may want to run the full diagnostics off a CD or 1 GB USB.

If diagnostics pass clean install the operating system on it Windows 10 TH2:

I bought this computer refurbished so that I can upgrade it.
I am asking about what parts would I need to upgrade the processor?

There aren't versions of cpu that are upgrades to prevent freezing. There is more than one Size of 760 and the parts are not universal across all the sizes.

I appreciate your help with this matter, I have the larder "mini tower" MT
My whole thinking was to have the large box where I can replace parts. Can I rebuild the whole CPU heat sink part(s) to make this machine work?
