Upgrading the graphics card in my alienware aurora r3

I've recently been given a fresh in-box geforce gtx 650 ti boost graphics card.

I've already attempted to upgrade my card before and it didn't work, the computer refused to run with it no matter what I tried, so I'd just like to ask if anyone knows if it will work to put this card into my system?

and if not, why? and what can I try?
