Using Dell XPS27 as external monitor, resolution blurry

I got a new computer and decided to use my dell all in one xps as an external monitor for it.

I had to go into the nvidia control panel and customize the resolution of my Dell XPS so that it was at 2560x1440 just like before when it was my desktop+monitor.

Now all my icons and windows seem to be blurry and I do not know how to fix this.

Please help

Hi,

What is the system model? Please check if the GPU on the  system supports that resolution.

Try updating the video drivers.  Decrease the resolution as well.

Its an acer ATC-603-EB12 with an i7 processor 4790 + nvidia Geforce GTX745 4GB graphics.

The GPU's driver is downloaded and all up to date.

I can decrease the resolution but was hoping to use the monitor to it's full potential

Any other suggestions?

Could it be I need an HDMI 1.4 cord?

Is my custom resolution off? 2560x1440 at 50HZ 32bpp color depth with progressive scan type and standard automatic timing?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

Would request you to get in touch with your system manufacturer.

http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-745-oem/specifications

You can find here the maximum digital and VGA resolution . If its not giving the expected resolution, would suspect the card or drivers.

Best would be to get in touch with ACER Forum or contact them.

Regards
