Video card recommendation for Dimension 4550

I have been thinking about a newer video card for my system, but when shopping am completely confused about what is/is not compatible to my system..System:
512 DDR SDRAM
64 mb nvidia geforce4MX420 with tv out
250watt power supply
Dell 1704FPV lcd monitor
XP home
Sorry, don't know the motherboard, bios.  Where do I find this info?

The card now installed will not run newer games with pixel shading, and i would like to install a new one, and spend about $100 to $150. I know i want an AGP card; I assume it cannot be PCIE enabled, but with so many tech variables, I want a little guidance from people more informed than I---and not trying to sell me into something.....Thanks

Many are purchasing the new Nvidia 6600 GT card ( AGP version ) and like it very much.  I to had this card for my Dim 4400 system, and the 250 watt power supply, and the games looked very good.  The card however is going for around $ 175.00 from http://www.newegg.com.  Some of the better games also like 1 gb to run even better, so someday you may want to upgrade this as well....Your system also has the 250 watt p/s...

Dim 4400 ( 2002 )
2.6 Ghz
Bios A06
1 Gb DDR 2100
Windows XP Home
SP-2
1703 FP LCD monitor
PC-Cillin Internet Security

I had the same set up as you a couple of months ago. Then I bought a FX 5700 256Mb (not the SE). You will not be disappointed and the cost is quite inexpensive. Unless you are a serious game freak then this card will do all that you want it to for a while to come.

Thanks to all.  Now all I have to do is find a place that sells the items here in the boonies.  How was your experience with online retailers re video cards?  Anyone....

Got my FX 5700 256Mb on Ebay. The price was right and the delivery time excellent. The product was "as new". The LE version is cheaper but the clock rate is significantly slower.

Here is a link to an Ebay item in the UK (no problem shipping to the US). It is an Ultra version and if the price is right it would suite your purposes admirably:

Or if you want the plain vanilla FX 5700 256Mb:
