Wake on Lan on Optiplex 3040

Hello,

we encounter a strange problems to operate the wake on lan with dell optiplex 3040 , when the PC is turned off you can turn it back on if the magic packet  is sent within 5 or 10 seconds .Afters this no more WOL is possible.

bios options are (ver 1.4.3) :

deep sleep control = > deactived

Wake on lan => lan only

block sleep has tested => ko

3 versions of the realtek drivers lan card has  been tested with unchecked power options , and then test by disabling some option .. nok the wol is not stable

Few version of windows . Tested OS : Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1. (With or without deactivating the Quick Start )

This is not append with other optiplex (7010, 7020 and 790)  model on same site with same switch and routers.

Lan card is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (DEV_8168).

 Any idea ?

Thanks

Hi

I am glad I am not the only one having this issue on optiplex 3040.

We have worked with dell support to try to resolve this.

They even passed by to replace the motherboard from 1 of the PC's.

Even tough they knew this was an issue with this type of system.

Tested with these BIOS versions without success.

1.4.3  1.3.5  1.2.3

This issue should be escalated,

unfortunately support told me they will not escalate

unless more dell users are alerting this problem.

Hello

The problem still exists after updating to the latest BIOS version.
Even updating the realtek network drivers did not fix the problem.

Is there any news about this?

I fixed the issue on my PC with the regular Network Drivers install and an older BIOS with:

Check - Intel Read Mode

Check - Block Sleep

Check - Lan Only

Check - USB Wake Support

Check - Deep sleep control - Disabled

Same issue, 3040 with newest updates, and some with older updates, both Wake On Lans do not work. We have 25 of these, with another 150 planned on being ordered. So this is quite disappointing that Dell does not have a fix.
