What Audio card

Exactly what audio card is im my xps 630i.  Its supposed to be an X-FI xtreme gamer card but looks nothing like the ones on the creative site.  The jack arangment is different. Rear speakers (5.1) don't work with xp drivers

It is a Dell Franken Card. A Hybrid mix of the gamer and music card. And you more than likely got the vista only card as Dell has different versions of the same card, and one only works with vista.

Maturecheese,

The Dell X-Fi thing is very confusing. The last I heard was that the XPS 630 ships with the Vista only Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic card (D). First, remove the driver you have loaded and try loading this XP driver and tell me what happens.

I would like to but I can't find the drivers I installed from Creative (SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_15_0006)to uninstall . All thats in add/remove programs is creative Audio console and microsofts High Definition Audio Driver Pakage KB888111. I am running XP sp3.

Here is some more info on my pci card

Sound Blaster X-FI  DR release 2.15.6

s/n mas 80774815R00117V

Model  SB 0770

Does this help to indentify if this is a Vista only card?

Also if I remove it and use the onboard sound, enabled in the bios, I get the message on booting " Audio cable unplugged press F1 to continue "
