What is the power requirement for the ATI Radeon HD 2600 pro 512mb graphics card?

The reason for my question is at some point I plan to upgrade my existing graphics card  to ATI Radeon HD 2600 pro 512mb so I want to know BEFORE I buy that my system’s power supply will be able to handle the new card’s power requirement.

I have

  • Pentium D Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz processor
  • 2 Gb DDR2 RAM
  • Windows 7 Ultimate
  • 80 Gb HD
  • 275W Power supply

The ATI 2600 Pro is a hopelessly obsolete and underpowered card. Even the 5450 is outperforms it, and 5450-based cards don't require power supply upgrades. The 6450 is a little more money than the 5450, but offers significantly better performance. If you're in the U.S., you can get a Sapphire 6450 for $40 postpaid before a $10 mail-in rebate.

The 2600 Pro was a disappointment even when it was new.

Hi Camtapkey,

Welcome to the Community.

400 Watt power supply is recommended for ATI Radeon HD 2600 pro 512mb.

Thanks & Regards

You certainly would not want to get the old HD 2600 Pro if upgrading today especially if you are running Windows 7.  They are also way overpriced.  Get the better HD 6450 as suggested for less than half the price.
