The SeaSonic SS-300TFX Bronze 300W TFX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Power Supply, as shown in your link will fine in the Inspiron 530s, but if your 530s has more than 2 x SATA drives, you will need to buy a SATA Y power splitter, similar to the splitter shown here,

Yes.  Both will work.  However, based on this review, he did not even upgrade his PSU.  Just remember, you have to take off the full size bracket and attach one of the low profile brackets it comes with for it to fit.

Welcome to the Dell community forum.

I did go through the system requirements of the video card which you want to install on your computer and noticed that the video card requires a minimum of a 400 Watt power supply, so a 300 Watt power supply will not work with this video card.

Kindly reply for any further clarifications.

Sorry to resurrect a post from the dead but I've been having some weird issues with my Insipron 530s and everything seems to be in order (no virus/malware/video card memory test/ram test etc) so my only thought is that it's a PSU problem (same PSU since 2007/2008) and I've been looking at this exact power supply (from the same website) for the past year wondering if i should buy it or buy the stock one directly from dell. So this PSU should work fine as an upgrade to my Inspiron 530s? This PSU would give me a little more leadway into upgrading my video card again. 

Noticed that the video card you posted( http://pointtek.ecrater.com/p/11057387/dell-530s-power-supply-upgrade-400 ) seems to be the same as http://pointtek.ecrater.com/p/8316384/400w-tfx-power-supply-tfx400w  so I was wondering could I opt to upgrade to this 500w PSU (http://pointtek.ecrater.com/p/14556392/500w-tfx-power-supply-tfx500w ) over the 400w ?

If I were buying a TFX power supply today, it would be my choice.

Regarding 500-watt power supplies, there is no low profile video card I know of that requires one.

As the power supply's form factor is TFX, then it should be fine, but most low profile PCIe x16 video cards will only require at most, a 400w PSU.
