Window 8 32-bit on a 64-bit platform
Hello Forum,
Can you install and use Windows 8 32-bit on a 64-bit platform desktop? My dilemma is that I have a 64-bit platform laptop (2 years old) and a 32-bit platform desktop (a Dell Dimension XPS 420, 5 years old).
Thank you in advance.

You should be able to clean install Windows 8 64 Bit on the Desktop.

The Windows 8 installers I've used automatically choose which version to install, depending on the target machine's capabilities. Do you have a reason why you don't want to install 64-bit Windows on either of these machines?
Apparently full versions of Windows 8 will come with both 32- and 64-bit versions, so the option is available if you need it.

Thanks Natukuc4. This is good to know. I wasn't sure if I could install W8 64-bit on a 32-bit bit platform.

Rd,
I prefer to use W8 64-bit, but was unsure about being able to install W8 64-bit on a 32-bit platform. Thanks for your response.

I suggest getting an $85 Win 8 Pro upgrade from Amazon while they're still available at that price. In less than two weeks, a free upgrade to 8.1 will be available.
