Aren you asking just about compatibility or about XP Mode and Virtual PC? You need Win 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC.
Go here and watch the video for help using the Win 7 compatibility troubleshooter for older programs if you don't have any of the Win 7 versions listed above.

Home version can't run it. From MS site-- You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode. To upgrade visit Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade.
