Do you really mean can the system be upgraded to 1333 mhz memory? The system can run either 1066 or 1333 mHZ DDR3 RAM.

Ok, That's what I was wondering. I can't wait to get one of these XPS 435's...and I think I will do the mem upgrade when I get it. Possibly put in 12gb of the 1333 mhz memory a get that baby movin.

Don't waste your money on anything over 4 gigs unless you are going to use a 64 bit OS. A 32 bit Os can only use up to 4 gigs no matter how much physical ram is in the system

Yeah, I know. Most of the XPS 435 come with the 64 bit systems. This is the year 2010.

Has anyone actually upgraded their memory in the XPS 435 to 1333mhz ram? I do not believe it can be done.

How do you like your XPS 435? I want to upgrade to that unit, but currently rockin the old Dell Dimension E520. Only 2 yrs old but it seems old.

I have the XPS 435T, i7 940 and absolutely love it. I upgraded from an XPS 600 which wasn't quite 2 years old. I liked the XPS 600 but there is no comparison to the 435T. It's blazing fast and whisper quiet.
The only issue I have, and I'll live with it, is that Dell told me prior to purchasing it that it would recognize 1333mhz ram. I guess it does recognize it since all of my ram is accounted for. I have 12GB. However, it is running at 1066MHZ and there is no way, with this MB, to get it to run faster. That being said, I still really like the build quality, appearance and responsiveness. I would recommend it highly to anyone interested.

Really, This means that we cannot upgrade the Dell 435 MT to the DDR3 1333? Mine came configured at 4X1G + 2X2G DDR3 1066, and I was thinking of swapping out all the 6 chips with DDR3 1333. But looks from this post that that cannot be done. What I am going to do then is keep my existing configuration and swap out one of the 1G chips to a 2G DDR3 1066. This will give me 3 X 1G and 3 X 2G DDR 1066, which will make it true triple channel. If the box cant do 1333, then it cant do 1333, I can live with that. Thanks for saving me the heartache after spending $$200$$ on something that wouldn't have worked.

Below is what we qualified to run -
XPS435MT
F680F DIMM,1GB,1067MHz PC3-8500,128X64
Y996D DIMM,2GB,1067MHz PC3-8500,256X64
TW149 DIMM,1GB,1333MHz PC3-10600,128X64
P223C DIMM,2GB,1333MHz PC3-10600,128X64
XPS 435T
F680F DIMM,1GB,1067MHz PC3-8500,128X64
Y996D DIMM,2GB,1067MHz PC3-8500,256X64
N852H DIMM,4GB,1066MHz PC3-8500,512X64
Memory Modes Supported
* Triple-channel symmetric mode, in which all channels are populated with the same size memory. This configuration yields peak memory performance as all channels are used simultaneously.
* Triple-channel asymmetric mode, in which all channels are populated but with different memory amounts. This configuration yields the performance of a single channel of memory with the combined memory size of the three channels.
* Single-channel mode, in which only one channel is populated.

Thank You - That answers my question. I have an XPS435MT and I just ordered 3 x ($58.99) MEM KINGSTON 2x2G KVR1333D3N9K2/4G - Retail $176.97 from NewEgg. 12G Should work like a charm. I wanted to work on my investment for the next three years. I generally buy a new PC once every 3. This should last a while - hopefully - for my needs. I am a little ticked off that they didnt give me the 2 X 640 GB Raid 0 configuration. Mine comes with a single 750GB Hitachi Sata 2 HDD. But HDD's are cheap. :emotion-2:

Hi everyone,
I am hoping to clarify whether an XPS435 MT is capable of using memory running higher than 1066 mhz.
I have an XPS 435MT with an i7 920 at 2.6ghz with an x58 chipset. Two Dell technical support agents told me today that my motherboard will only support RAM up to 1066, and yet Chris's post above seems to indicate that up to 1333 mhz is OK with this system.
Both agents I spoke to didn't seem that confident in their answers, and so I'm left feeling confused as to what my system is capable of using. I bought this system to be forward compatible, so I would hope it's capable of using faster memory (my plan is to yank the 6 DIMMS of 1 GB memory and get 6 x 2 GB DDR3 triple channel, hopefully at least 1333 mhz.)
Does anyone know? Has anyone used memory higher than 1066 mhz with this system, and did you need to do any special tweaks to make it work?
I'm a novice in terms of these things, so thanks for your help.
Here are my system specs as shipped:

Both answers are correct. I have a xps 435mt with 12gb of triple channel 1333 memory installed and it works like a charm. The BIOS even reports the memory with the correct speed. But the memory will only run at 1066 max. And since the BIOS offers no way to change the memory timing, we're stuck at 1066. Dell (probably correctly) didn't allow any tweaks in the BIOS. While the xps 435mt is a fine system, the case, power supply, and cooling wouldn't survive those over-clockers ;-).
I would go for matching triple channel 1066 sticks.
Love the xps435mt - it is a rocket.

Hi All XPS 9000 owners!
I own one and Dell 's sales information states that it supports 1333MHz memory. Wrong. I have 8GB of Crucial loaded in mine. It registers 1066MHz in the BIOS with no application to change with a A16 BIOS upgrade. Is it time for Dell to provide the a upgrade for us to use this memory? Or do we have to go to the aftermarket.

I have the same issue, I have 2 modules of matching 1333MHZ memory, however the BIOS shows 1066MHZ.
Dell marketed it as a high end, highly expandable system but failed to provide such an easy change in their BIOS. Should we, the owners, push for that to happen?
