Hello Sonn,

The specs for your system's processor is:

Intel ® Core TM 2 Extreme Processor QX6800 (8MB L2 Cache, 3.20GHz, 1066MHz FSB)
Intel ® Core TM 2 Extreme Processor QX6700 (8MB L2 Cache, 2.93GHz, 1066MHz FSB)
Intel ® Core TM 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB)
Intel ® Core TM 2 E6700 (4MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz FSB)
Intel ® Core TM 2 E6600 (4MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB)

So you could put the extrem QX 6800 in that system.  And now is a great time to purchase a new processor, because Intel has droped the prices as they are focusing on the Core i7 models.  On that subject, the Q6600 is one of the best and most stable processors.  I have it in my XPS 420, but as I understand it at this time, it is being discontinued.

Call Dell Customer support or shop around soon while these processors are available.  Best of luck with your upgrade,

Darrell WV
