No sir. A Customer Care agent might know the lead times.

fsimard,
Do you mean the maker (Foxconn, MSI, etc.)? If yes, we do not release that information. But, if someone got the FCC ID number, they could track it down.

It's because i am looking of the motherboard spec. because the cpu spec says it should have 6 memory braket on the MB. But the when we select the memory we have only 2 choice 3x1gig or 3x2 gig.

You never suggest it. I was looking for this answer.
I find the spec of the motherboard on a FAQ you create on the xps 730x

fsimard,
The XPS 730X motherboard has three memory slots. Where did I say it had six?

The XPS 730-H2C with the i7-965 Extreme processor will be factory overclocked to 3.73GHz.
The XPS 730x air-cooled with the i7-965 Extreme processor will be factory overclocked to 3.46GHz.
As long as you are in these settings, your system is operating at 3.46GHz or 3.73GHz speed, respectively. NOTE - Even after using these settings, the System Bios and Windows System properties will only show the processor as 3.20GHz. This is normal. If you want to verify that the overclock settings are in place, download and install CPU-Z. Once running, under the CPU tab, my XPS 730x air-cooled with the i7-965 Extreme processor Core Speed shows as 34xx.xMHz.

Sorry about the formatting code in my last reply! Not sure what happened there - must have grabbed some when I copy/pasted.

Well - I spoke to a customer care agent (I will leave out the agents name as I know its prohibited) and this was the discussion (he was polite and helpful btw):

AGENT: Welcome to Dell's Sales Chat! My name is xxxxxxxx. Just in case we get disconnected, my e-mail address is xxxxxxxx. How may I assist you with your purchase today?
ME: actually i had a question regarding an order i placed a week ago
ME: can you assist with that?
AGENT: Possibly.
ME: my question is in regards to the est. ship date. I know its a worst case, but the est. ship is 1/12/2009 which seems a bit long
AGENT: The 730x is a brand new system. We're doing some extra testing before we send out the first models.
ME: testing? is there a potential issue(s)?
AGENT: if we shipped them out in December, yes. But since we do the extra testing, no.
AGENT: That's what the testing is for. We do it with any new product.
AGENT: :-)
ME: I see. Well I appreciate the info, however it might be a good idea to indicate on the website that there may be delays due to further testing that is required.
ME: As long as the delays are not due to backordered parts
AGENT: We just want to be sure that when you get it, you won't have problems.
AGENT: :-)

AGENT: If you think of anything else—questions or concerns—feel free to e-mail me at xxxxxxxxxx.
ME: i will. thank you

So I guess the delay is for further testing. I'm OK with that, though I would have liked there to have been a message of some sort indicating that the systems are going through additional "testing" that would delay the order. When I ordered my 710 system 1-1/2 years back it shipped 2 days after I ordered it - I guess I got spoiled! :).

Well now I'm not sure what to think. My above reply was an online chat I had. I actually phoned them today to chat "in-person" and they told me something completely different. According to them, my system is in the build stage and should ship "very soon". They did not mention anything about testing required.

I got the same (over a month ship date) on a souped up 730x also. I didn't call, although I thought that was a bit long. Must be the new processor. Thanks for the info...
