XPS 8500 Boot Time 256GB SSD?
What should the boot time be for XPS 8500 special edition with 256GB SSD?
It takes 30.7 seconds to boot/reboot to desktop. (I don't logon so I don't know why it measures that...I have no password on this account). There is way too long sitting on Dell logo. Microsoft says boot time in Win 8 WITHOUT SSD even is so fast (7 seconds) that there is no chance to tap F2, F12, etc. keys. HUH? I have PLENTY of time on this new, supposedly very fast booting computer, to tap F keys and it takes MUCH LONGER TIME when tapping F keys to get to the proper screen than it does on my XPS 600.
I thought that getting the 256GB SSD would give me very fast boot/reboot times. Boot time on this EXPENSIVE SSD is only a slightly faster than on my almost seven year old XPS 600 machine (but then it can run circles around this new XPS machine in most ways even though it is old and ailing).
I'm wondering if I wasted my money on the SSD. Actually, if my XPS 600 did not have a bulging capacitor on the mobo, I would not be keeping this machine because it is not nearly as fast as my XPS 600. I read here about folks raving how fast this XPS 8500 is...they must have had really, really slow computers previously because it is NOT a fast computer even with nVidia 660 card. It's ok but that is all.
