XPS 8500 PCIe Firewire card Windows 8 Compatible

I have researched this forum and found good info on this issue. I can't seem to find a PCIe firewire card with Windows 8 compatibility.

I need firewire to attach my Audio recording interface. Is this the best way to go?, Anybody suggest a card? I'm due to accept delivery of my new computer Dec 24 and would like to be ready!

Hi murph11,

There are different FireWire cards available in the market, which are compatible with XPS 8500 and Windows 8; two of them are StarTech and Rosewill.

For any clarifications feel free to contact me.

I have the Startech PEX1394A2, it was only recognised in slot 3, although device manager now shows it, no software I have can see it??? Early days yet  - no drivers available on startech site, I will investigate more as I have as yet not tried to contact them.
