XPS 8500 Shutdown Problem
After I shutdown my XPS 8500, the monitor goes off, the power and other panel lights goes off but the processor and fans keep running, and would continue for hours if I don't pull the power cord. What is causing this? Any suggestion for a fix would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi SCRUMBS,
When did the issue start? Are there any bluescreens / system crashes? Does the hibernate / restart option work fine? Is the issue seen only with shutdown option? Are there any external components connected to the system all the time?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1Mq7QdL - restart the system and check.
Reinstall the chipset and video drivers from the Dell support site or vendor site and check.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
If the system is under warranty, write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email).
Keep us updated.
