XPS 8500 hangs on Dell logo during reboot

Running Windows 10, when I reboot computer it starts the reboot process but hangs up at black screen with dell logo. If I power off then on it reboots perfect without hanging up at the dell logo.

Any idea's to fix this?

Thanks

Hi wzajac,

Thanks for posting.

Apologies that your computer is not performing as expected.

Here is some information from the Dell knowledge base that may be helpful:  http://dell.to/2zMv4gj

Some users have reported success with disabling secure boot as an alternative.

I've had this problem with mine for years. It doesn't always happen, and I've yet to determine exactly the conditions under which it occurs, but yeah exact same symptoms. Ironically, the 1st sign of a successful boot is the Dell logo temporarily being replaced by a black screen with a message about the keyboard not working. That black screen is then replaced by the Dell logo again with the Windows loading animation.

The strange part is that it boots perfect when I power off/on.

When I try to restart while running win 10 it hangs at Dell Logo. At that point I need to power off/on.

I tried running diags and all pass the bios is up to date.

Would like to know what is different when you restart compared to power on/off.

My XPS 730x is having the exact same problem. I thought I had it fixed about a month ago when I replaced the power supply, but it has started again!
