XPS 8500 upgrading processor

Can I put an i7-65xx processor in an XPS 8500 (currently running i7-3770, win10)?

No.

the i7-3770 is a different CPU socket, different chipset and completely different overall motherboard design. This is third generation Intel aka "Ivy Bridge"

To move to a sixth generation intel would mean a new motherboard and new RAM. The sixth generation, aka "Skylake" pretty much requires DDR4 RAM although there are some exceptions.

Also your windows license is tied to the MoBo so you will need a new one of those.

All said, the 3770 is still a fantastic processor. ( I am using one right now as I type).

What is the reason for wanting the upgrade? Gaming? Video rendering?

I get a lot of hang ups when I'm using Photoshop and/or Premiere Pro. I have 32G of ram but it still happens more than I would like.  I thought the latest processor would help.
