XPS 8900 Desktop - Display Port Connection
The desktop has a Nvidia 750Ti Graphics card when I got the machine from Dell. I have a Monitor which has a display port. The card has 2x DVI connections and mini HDMI. There is an mini hdmi adaptor to HDMI. I have a hdmi to DP cable but its not picking up any signal!
If anyone can help me with this issue?

Correct. You get no signal when connecting to monitor DP or mDP because HDMI/mHDMI cannot upconvert to monitor DP or mDP via a straight cable and adapter like you are using.

Or just get a better video card with DP out ports =
GeForce GTX 960/970/980 (DVI-I/Three DP 1.2/HDMI)

I have access to a AOC G2460PF and a Viewsonic VP2468 (I won't need two screens at the same time).

Does either monitor have an On-Screen Display (OSD) that's accessed by pressing a button(s) on the display?
Have you opened that OSD and made sure it's set to accept a DP signal? The monitor may default to a different input signal and won't see a DP signal until you change the OSD settings.

Nvidia 750Ti video out ports = DVI-D/DVI-I/Mini-HDMI
AOC G2460PF video in ports = DVI-D/HDMI/DP/VGA
Viewsonic VP2468 video in ports = HDMI/HDMI/DP/mDP
A video card HDMI or mHDMI cannot upconvert to a monitor DP or mDP without purchasing an active converter.
Possible configurations =
Nvidia 750Ti mHDMI out port --> mHDMI to HDMI cable --> AOC G2460PF HDMI in port
Nvidia 750Ti DVI-D out --> DVI to HDMI cable --> AOC G2460PF HDMI in port
Nvidia 750Ti DVI-D out port --> DVI to DVI cable --> AOC G2460PF DVI in port
Nvidia 750Ti mHDMI out port --> mHDMI to HDMI cable --> Viewsonic VP2468 HDMI in port
Nvidia 750Ti DVI-D out --> DVI to HDMI cable --> Viewsonic VP2468 HDMI in port

yes both have OSD I have toggled with the DP signal 1.1 & 1.2 - Still no signal.
