XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 delivery delay issues
The previous thread that mentioned issues of the Studio XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 being delayed or having extensive build times was locked. After a months time I had ordered mine (9/26) and it was supposed to ship on (10/22), after two delays it finally shipped out and will be received today (10/28). If you have any issues or have found any solutions to help get your systems sooner please help others that have also been in this predicament. It would seem the main issue is due to the high demand of I5 and I7 processors and parts being backordered. If you call customer service after a delay often times they will upgrade you to one day shipping, even though it took them three days to actually get it out.

Dell Studio Xps 8000
Original order date: 10/21
Original estimated delivery: 11/05
1st Delay! 11/12
2nd Delay! 11/19
3rd Delay! 11/30
What is going on? Dell reps have been terrible with providing me any reason as to why. All the whle prices are dropping and my deal is becoming less of a deal each day....no machine yet :(:( To all who would be purchasing a dell, I would advise not to, as you probably wont be receiving it for several months..
UPDATE: 4th Delay! 12/3 wooohoo

Good news! My XPS 8000, ordered 10/12, was shipped yesterday, 11/17. With Fed Ex Priority Overnight shipping, it should hopefully arrive today.

I received my Studio XPS 9000 yesterday and as others have said, it's worth the wait.

Its strange, ive been reading about several people on the forums who placed their orders after mine, but have recieved the same machine before me...kinda disheartening. It will be one month tomorrow and still nothing in sight..

I ordered mine on Nov 1st.
XPS 9000, upgraded video card and added a TV Tuner. I received a shipping email saying it shipped yesterday. I am on the east coast of Canada so I suspect its going to take 7-10 days to get here. My site says Nov.30th, but it may be around the 27 or 28th. A very long wait but hopefully worth it!

I ordered an XPS 8000 on 11/7.
When customizing it, I saw an estimated delivery date of 11/17.
When the order was placed, the estimated date was 11/25.
Today the order was delayed to 12/4.
Now I wont be able to play Aion with my friends this Thanksgiving. :emotion-6:
A month is too long of a wait time. :emotion-12:

I also ordered mine on 10/19. Since I received mine last week (12th), below is my configuration, which might give you a clue as to what the parts shortage is for yours. In fact, it might be a good idea for everyone to list their configuration for clues to the rest of us.

Dell really has one of the worst customer services out there. I just found out that my order is delayed AGAIN - this is the third time. I ordered my XPS 9000 with the i7 extreme processor (3.33GhZ) on 10/18 and now the latest expected delivery is 12/3. What upsets me more than anything else is that you can only find out about those delays by logging into your Dell account - I have never gotten an email from them alerting me to the delays. Of course, nobody gives you any real reason for the delay - when I call I get the useless apologies but zero information. I am so tired of this company - but now I am too far invested and I guess I'll just have to sit it out.
But, Dell will never, ever get an additional penny out of my pocket.

I received notice that my XPS 8000 would be delayed a third time (ordered 10/28, promised for 11/12, third delay date 12/7). The customer service rep said they had to change the motherboards on the systems. Before agreeing to the delay, I checked the website and found they were offering a better deal. I had configured a computer with an i5 processor. For about the same price, they were offering a i7 system with a hard drive with twice the size -- and throwing in a Star Wars movie/game on a flash drive to boot. They say delivery on or before 12/10. Yeah, right. I expect it may arrive in time to do my taxes next year. But it does seem like a good deal based on comparison shopping. Just hoping my current creaky HD doesn't finally give up the ghost anytime soon...

Here's a new one: My original order was for two XPS 8000's (one i5 and the other an i7-860). Both orders have experienced the following:
Originally Ordered: 10/29
Original Est. Delivery: 11/13/09
Revised (11/10) Est Delivery: 11/30/09
Revised (11/23) Est. Delivery: 12/30/09 :emotion-3:
Here's my conspiracy theory: Demand is high, inventories are exhausted. Replenishment costs for inventory are higher than expected and they would rather loose the order than fulfill the order at a loss.

Isom, if you don't mind me asking, what components did you customize that might have pushed out the delivery so far?

Yeah I'm wondering that too. I got the i7-920, the GTX260, and the X-Fi Xtreme, which I'm suspecting might have pushed it back.
