XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 delivery delay issues
The previous thread that mentioned issues of the Studio XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 being delayed or having extensive build times was locked. After a months time I had ordered mine (9/26) and it was supposed to ship on (10/22), after two delays it finally shipped out and will be received today (10/28). If you have any issues or have found any solutions to help get your systems sooner please help others that have also been in this predicament. It would seem the main issue is due to the high demand of I5 and I7 processors and parts being backordered. If you call customer service after a delay often times they will upgrade you to one day shipping, even though it took them three days to actually get it out.

nimche,
If it wasn't so sad I would be laughing. Hang in there, everyone who has received their 8000 has spoken highly of their purchase.

Since you guys didn't laugh enough the forum admin (tos 2 out of 3) has deleted my post and wants me to reedit and resubmit?
It was edited and sorry it can't get better than this, so I won't post it again/

Ha! My first post here and I'm deleted. Used a mildly (and I mean mild) bad word when describing the "stuff" you guys had to put up with. Same as the casino game with dice. What is this, the bible belt? Anyway I thought you might get deleted too for the acronym on bovine excrement that you used. Oops, did I say that.

Hello, everyone. I'm in the same boat as you guys. I figured I'd share my experience with you.
Also, does anyone know if the $50 and $25 Dell Promo Gift Cards ship 6-8 weeks after the order is placed or after the order is shipped?

Someone asked who had the oldest backorder....mine is 11-17-09 for an XPS Studio 8000....numerous reschedules...still in production...have been through the e-mail send back if you don't want cancelled....have talked to the folks in India several times..did get upgraded shipping...current EDD is 1-13-2010..the really frustrating part is seeing orders with my same configuration being filled and delivered by folks who ordered in Mid December... that information being seen in this forum...however,..my plan is to wait them out...Also interesting is that Best Buy has almost the same config with a wireless card but smaller hard drive for a lesser price on their web site and it is available.. Good luck to all the folks waiting....

The Best Buy offer is interesting. I noticed it has a black case instead of a white one. Since I'll be hard wired to my wifi router, the wifi card is not enough to offset the smaller HD, free shipping (no local store PU available) and two year warranty offer I have. But, along with the fact that it is in stock, they do offer 18 months no interest vs 12 months from Dell. What can you do with $1200.00 for an extra 6 months?

I considered the Best Buy version (and the black case looks good) our local Best Buy had them in stock. However I decided to save $191 and order a refurbished unit. I asked before I ordered if they were retail refurbished because the configuration was the same as Best Buy's XPS 8000. I didn't get a no, rather that most of the refurbished units were demos from shows. My 8000, the monitor and wireless keyborad are on the trucks for delivery to my home today. If I am reading the shipping bill correctly my CPU is BLK, RTL which makes me thinkg it is a black retail unit. I'll let everyone know when they arrive today.
Ordered 1/1 online, on trucks for delivery 1/6; CPU Fed EX, monitor and keyboard separatge UPS packages. The number of 8000s in the Outlet was in the 40s when I started looking after Christmas, just a handful yesterday, and 35 right now with many more i5s, very few previously ordered mostly refurbished.

I still read these posts too. Nimche is entertaining...
It's quite fascinating....this whole subject. ...how some customers can get their order within 2-3 weeks and others are going on 3 months without theirs.
If this were a restaurant half the customers would be leaving because they haven't received their food yet, while others who came in a couple hours later have already eaten, paid, and out the door.
Even though I received my XPS 8000 within the EDD all of this will make me think twice before I buy another home computer in another 4 years or so.
Good luck

Love you TOS20 again, I am used to have my post to be deleted. What if I talk to Mr. Dell about this issue, he may understand the freedom of speech? At last he live in the US and work under US regulation...

So I'm guessing this won't be anything new, but I put in an order for and Inspiron 17 on 11/24, got that one by 12/19/09. 4 days later I decided I'd like a XPS 8000, I still haven't recieved it. It was due to be here today but after the 3rd delay I can't get a straight answer from anyone. I don't think next day shipping is any consolation for being almost 60 days from time of purchase. I use Dell machines daily and I really enjoy them, but when customer service is this bad, I'm bound to end up with a different company. Let's say I don't pay them for 60 days and what happens then? It really is disappointing that they cannot keep to their word. 3 delays becomes unacceptable in my mind. How about an upgrade, a discount or throw us some software. After this experience I will definately think twice.
